ESPN host Stephen A. Smith criticizes those who previously condemned Trump and now seek to align themselves with him. He also addresses the behavior of Democratic lawmakers.
ESPN host Stephen A. Smith delivered scathing criticism aimed at individuals attempting to regain the favor of President-elect Donald Trump to avoid potential backlash. Smith expressed his profound disappointment with the perceived hypocrisy displayed by figures in the media and beyond, who had vehemently labeled the incoming president a 'racist' and drawn parallels to Hitler.
\'What we discovered post-election is how many individuals on the left were complicit in this,' Smith stated during an appearance on 'Hannity' Thursday. 'When you consider and reflect on Biden's stance, and now he and his family don't necessarily see eye-to-eye with Nancy Pelosi anymore... They feel betrayed. They question their feelings toward Obama, even though former President Barack Obama extended that gracious tweet about Joe Biden a couple of days ago... We observe Kamala Harris and some of the things being said about her now, pronouncements they weren't making before.'\Smith continued, 'And then you observe the media. As you mentioned, the media, and what are people doing? They're flocking down to Mar-a-Lago to kiss his ring. They're attempting to ensure that he won't target them. All of a sudden, you no longer hear ‘racist,’ you no longer hear associations with Nazis and Hitler and all of this other rhetoric.' 'So wait a minute here. You were sitting around convincing everyone and their grandmother that this guy was completely unfit, the worst plague to ever walk the earth, and now suddenly that you find yourself in this position.' Smith's remarks follow the trend of companies and prominent individuals now seeking affiliation with Trump after his decisive election victory. The ESPN host also voiced his frustration with Democratic lawmakers on Capitol Hill in the wake of the victory. 'The man won the election. The American people have spoken,' Smith acknowledged. 'What the hell are you doing on Capitol Hill acting like you're still on the campaign trail, discussing him like their fate is intertwined? He's your president now. You have to sit up there and declare, I hope he succeeds for this country. I hope he fulfills the promises he has made.' 'You can't be rooting against him because you dislike him at the expense of the United States of America. We have reached a point in our society where people engage in such actions, and that's the real problem plaguing America,' Smith stated
