Giannis Antetokounmpo explained why he believes Warriors star Steph Curry is currently the best player in the NBA.

"Do I believe I'm the best player in the world? No," Antetokounmpo said in a press conference during NBA media day on Sunday."I believe the best player in the world is Steph Curry until the next player." Antetokounmpo's quote quickly went viral as Dub Nation recirculated it as further proof that Steph is the top player in the league. However, there was an added context to Antetokounmpo's comments. While he clearly has great respect for Curry, his statement was more about a broader belief that the best player in the world is the best player on the team that has won the most recent NBA Finals.
"Two years ago when we [won the title], yeah maybe I'm the best player in the world," he said."But now, no. In my opinion, the way I view it, the winner is the best." Later in the day, Curry was asked about Antetokounmpo's comments. While Steph had not seen the quote, first assuming reporters were joking in response to the question, he actually gave a pretty similar answer to Giannis.
