Get a taste of the Mattel icon’s lavish pink lifestyle as World of Barbie makes its U.S. debut in Southern California in April.
Generations of kids, and for sure, are about to have their dreams come true as they’ll soon be able to spend time touring through a replica of Barbie’s Dreamhouse. They’ll be able to check out her closet, hang out near the pool in the backyard and even step into her bright pink camper van.
And there’s no need to shrink down to doll-size. All of this is part of a life-sized pop-up dubbed the World of Barbie that fully immerses guests into the iconic doll’s perfect pink life. The 20,000 square-foot interactive attraction opens at Santa Monica Place in Santa Monica April 14. Barbie fans can check out all of the outfits and career uniforms in Barbie’s walk-in closet and hop into the driver’s seat of her full-size camper van, which was built by West Coast Customs, and imagine driving down Pacific Coast Highway.
There are plenty of photo ops throughout the exhibition including six Barbie boxes that will turn guests into various versions of the popular Mattel toy. There’s also a Barbie Space Center, where patrons can pretend they’re about to travel into outer space. Barbie animated films will be screened on Sundays and other recurring special events will be scheduled throughout the duration of the pop-up as well. The World of Barbie previously took place in Toronto, Canada where more than 100,000 people visited during its more than two-month run there. The Santa Monica Place event will mark the pop-up’s US debut.
