The Eagles in particular have been crushed by injuries in recent years, as well as multiple waves of COVID during the 2021 and 2022 seasons that at one point saw them only able to field 18 listed players. Power coach Ken Hinkley was of a similar vein, stating if the season is to be extended, then the length of matches should be reduced.“I don’t think we need to play 120-minute games; if you drop that back to 100, we can get more games of football — if that’s what is required,” Hinkley said.CEO Andrew Dillion was ‘conscious’ of what the league is already asking of those involved in the AFL community, namely players, coaches and staff.
