As I head into the new season of Diablo 4 later today, I am reminded of one thing I still hate about the game. The fact that farming for cosmetic armor or weapon skins essentially does not exist anymore, as dozens of expensive sets hit the shop each season without being farmable in the game. Really, really awesome-looking sets, but ones I cannot justify shelling out $20-35 for.outfits and cosmetics for Eve, priced in the industry standard $15-25 range, no doubt.
Some games blend the two. My home base game, Destiny 2, does have a good amount of “earned” sets, albeit almost all are still attached to at the very least, paying for seasonal content. Though they do have lots of sets in the Eververse store still. Some can be earned through ton of grinding, others like crossovers cannot be, and will run you $20.
Stellar Blade gets it. They could have squeezed out money from a cash shop, but it would have drastically hurt the game itself by tainting its cosmetic chase. More games need to learn from this and other examples like Spider-Man that this is the way to do things right.Our community is about connecting people through open and thoughtful conversations.
