The Pittsburgh Steelers have made multiple roster moves to start their week at training camp.
New England Patriots tight end Matt Sokol is dragged down by Tennessee Titans linebacker Harold Landry III in the first half of an NFL preseason football game Friday, Aug. 25, 2023, in Nashville, Tenn. but rookie Beanie Bishop and veteran Grayland Arnold surged ahead of him in the first few days of training camp. Instead, Scott will now look to find a new home, while McMichael will insert himself into the slot cornerback competition.
McMichael appeared in the 2022 NFL Draft and was an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, following an unsuccessful stint there, he flamed out and was claimed off waivers by the Arizona Cardinals. Now, McMichael finds himself with the Steelers, looking to make some noise. As for Callaway being cut, the Steelers have a lot of bodies at wide receiver, but Callaway had made an impact and possessed special teams upside. Sokol comes for tight end relief that the team needed after Rodney Williams suffered an AC joint sprain laying out for a diving catch on Saturday. According to Mike Tomlin,Sokol was an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State in 2019. He has hopped around the NFL, playing for five teams before joining the Steelers.
