The Pittsburgh Steelers could be facing a potential Aaron Rodgers threat from a surprising NFC franchise this offseason.

While there has been some noise about Rodgers potentially returning to the Steelers under his former head coach Mike McCarthy, there is no guarantee of that happening. Should the future Hall of Fame quarterback choose to leave Pittsburgh for retirement or another team, the franchise would need to move quickly to replace him.

Rodgers proved that he can still play at a high level during his 2025 campaign with the Steelers. He played in 16 games, completing 65.7 percent of his pass attempts for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Those numbers show why Pittsburgh would be comfortable bringing him back for 2026 at 41 years old. With that being said, the Steelers might very well be facing a Rodgers threat in free agency from a surprising NFC franchise.has suggested the Arizona Cardinals as a potential fit for Rodgers this offseason. Mike LaFleur, the brother of Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, was hired to be the team's new head coach. He also brought in Nathaniel Hackett to be his offensive coordinator. Hackett is known to be very close with Rodgers. Could Rodgers consider reuniting with Hackett on the Cardinals? It's an interesting idea, although there are some problems with it. At this point in his career, contending for a Super Bowl is at the top of Rodgers' priority list. Arizona doesn't appear to be close to making that kind of a run. That wouldn't necessarily disqualify the Cardinals from being a suitor for Rodgers, but it would make their pursuit a more difficult sell.Heading into the offseason, there are a lot of rumors surrounding current Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray. A lot of trade rumors have swirled around him already since the season came to an end. Expect to hear a lot of rumors about the Cardinals and about Rodgers as well as the offseason picks up speed. Pittsburgh would like to re-sign the veteran quarterback, but there are some other teams around the league who could consider him as an option as well. Arizona is one of those teams.
