The injury might not be something that he can fix, though. And Tomlin is not looking for excuses. He wants to see Jones respond against the“I think the next performance is an indication of that,” Tomlin said when asked about Jones’ response. “There’s a process in terms of getting better: You analyze, you acknowledge, you make another plan to get ready for the next opportunity. But ultimately, responses are gauged by the next performance.
Russell Wilson voted in confidence for Jones, and it seems that much of the team is rallying around the second-year tackle as he struggles in the preseason. Yet, if Jones can not improve his play, it is becoming increasingly difficult to see him as the Week 1 starter. The Steelers need to see positive signs from Jones, or he might need to sit and rest his elbow and work on his technique.
