The Steelers will monitor Russell Wilson's progress this week as he recovers from a calf injury, but they're preparing as if Justin Fields will start vs. the Broncos.
Dan Graziano and Jeff Saturday agree the Steelers will turn to Russell Wilson once he's healthy, even after Justin Fields led the team to victory in Week 1. "As I sit here today, we're preparing as if Justin is going to be our quarterback," coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday."I think that's the appropriate way to do it. Speculation is a waste of time. Russell's hurt. He is not available to us.
Asked specifically if Wilson would start Sunday if he's healthy, Tomlin declined to give a definitive answer. "I'm not going to soothe you with hypothetical scenarios," Tomlin said."It is my general practice to not. ... So why start today? Because it's the quarterback position or because it's a national story? I am unmoved by some of those narratives, to be quite honest with you.
