“The amount that my wife and I gave was $100,000. I talked with the superintendent of the school and, really, I want this to go to the athletic department, the Roller Athletic Foundation. I trust those in charge to use the money in the best capacity.” “Those are my kind of guys. My experience at Steel-High was great. It taught me a lot about expectations, which is something I told the group. Steelton is a unique community. The steel industry was the bedrock of that community. We were hard-nosed athletes. We never went into a season thinking about playing for second place. People tend to underestimate that athletic department, but you can’t underestimate the heart of a champion.
Drafted in the 15th round by the Browns in 1973, Sullivan would play parts of two seasons before retiring following several knee surgeries.“I don’t know if people realize how much commonality there is. In some form or fashion, all those characteristics in the business world and football,” said Sullivan, who began working, and eventually owning, cemeteries and funeral homes.
