Windows 10 Now Available For Steam Deck, But You Shouldn’t Install It
You can’t dual-boot Windows 10 and SteamOS , although you can technically boot Windows 10 with another Linux distribution that provides that functionality during installation.
Audio drivers aren’t 100% ready yet. This means no audio from the Deck’s speakers or 3.5mm headphone jack. It’s Bluetooth only for now. Those are just Valve’s cautionary statements, but I’ll add a couple more. It’s highly unlikely that Windows will support the Steam Deck’s super snappy suspend and resume feature. And it’s almost certain that battery life will be far worse than SteamOS.
All that being said, I plan on testing Windows 10 extensively, especially evaluating performance of the same games across both operating systems. That should yield some fascinating results.
