The coastguard is warning people to stay away from the seafront
The Met Office issued the yellow weather warning at 1am today, Tuesday, April 9 and it will be in place until 3pm today. High winds will mainly impact coastal areas of Wirral , Sefton and the waterfront.
Forecasters said: "Strong winds may bring hazardous coastal conditions and could cause some travel disruption."READ MORE: Win one of 10 £100 vouchers for top supermarkets in our Hovis competitionThe HM Coastguard Southport said the Southport, Ainsdale and Formby areas are expecting a 9.6 metre spring tide just after 12pm today . A spokesperson also warned to stay away from seafronts, including to get a picture.
They said: "With the tide, and high winds , the seafront, or beach areas are not going to be the place to be. Please avoid getting anywhere near the waters edge. "Getting that one photograph that might look good isn’t worth the risk. If you do see anyone in trouble at the coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard."
