KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 26 — Malaysia’s producer price index declined to -1.8 per cent in August 2023, an improvement from July’s -2.3 per cent , said the Department of Statistics Malaysia.

“At the same time, the manufacturing sector decreased by -2.3 per cent, affected by the drop in manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products and manufacture of food products indices,” chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said in a statement today. The mining sector increased by 3.9 per cent owing to the extraction of crude petroleum and extraction of natural gas indices.
