On Saturday morning, crowds of protesters rallied outside of the state house in Augusta.

"I hope to keep women's sports for women," Julia Deitrick, a Maine high school student, said."I would like for the MPA and the governor to see that there is this big push for keeping our state the way it is and following the executive order," Deitrick continued.

"Young women that train their entire lives and work hard...you don't just wake up and become a state champ, it takes a lot of effort, it takes a lot of time," Trump supporter Nicholas Blanchard said."When Governor Mills decided to argue with the president over this subject, I think it really brought people to come out and say no, that's not you speaking for us, we are going to start speaking for ourselves," Smith said.Meanwhile, crowds lined Monument Square in Portland on Saturday afternoon protesting against President Trump. "We are doing this because we wanna make sure that people in our community are aware of local, state, and national issues and giving them actions of how they can speak up against some of the things that are happening now," Mary Turner, a Brunswick resident, said. Some were asking for change at the White House. "Elon, who's running the country, and then his subordinate Donald 'musk-rat,' who's just floating around the White House; they need to be kicked out. Everything they are doing is terrible," Rich Nowak, an attendee of the protest, said. There were several other protests around the state on Saturday as Mainers demand change from both sides.
