States are beginning to make a series of high-stakes decisions that could determine how the next phase of the pandemic progresses across the country
More than two dozen former foreign ministers are calling on the United Nations and governments around the world to step up efforts to coordinate a global response to the pandemic, warning that the “vacuum at the top in the world today is damaging.”signed by 27 former foreign officials including Clinton-era Secretary of State Madeleine Albright lays out a series of recommendations, including the creation of a global plan for equitably distributing any eventual Covid-19 vaccine.
It also calls out President Donald Trump and China’s Xi Jinping by name, urging them to “prioritize the funding of the relevant international organizations that conduct research on viruses, vaccines, and medical treatments.” That comes after the Trump administration announced it would pull out of the World Health Organization.
"Coming out of this crisis, we must build back our global system, and build it back better," the group wrote.The Association for Community Affiliated Plans is funding a new campaign aimed at steering newly uninsured Americans toward HealthCare.gov. The six-figure effort is designed to promote the range of coverage options available to those who lose their employer-based insurance amid the pandemic — including Medicaid and Obamacare plans.
ACAP, which represents safety-net health insurers, called the campaign a bid to fill the void left by a Trump administration that has done little to promote Obamacare plans even as tens of millions lose their jobs. The group is also positioning those plans as less expensive alternatives to COBRA coverage.Even if you don’t have symptoms, you could spread the coronavirus.
