“Late Monday afternoon there was a small fire in a cardboard compactor outside of JFK8, one of our facilities in Staten Island, New York. All employees were safely evacuated, and day shift employees were sent home with pay,” said Flannagan. According to the Washington Post report, about 100 warehouse night shift workers at JFK8 refused to work for several hours on Monday after a fire broke out. The report said the warehouse smelled of smoke and that they couldn’t breathe. One worker went to the hospital, the report said.
