Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene

Emergency services have closed a busy Nottinghamshire road for hours after a "serious collision". A section of the A614 has been closed since 5.30pm on Friday, September 8, following a serious crash near Ollerton.

Nottinghamshire Police confirmed on Friday evening that the closure would have to stay in place into the night. At 8.30pm, a Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: "Drivers are being advised the A614 will be closed for some time following a serious collision near Ollerton at around 5.30pm today. We are urging motorists to please avoid the area."

Earlier, firefighters from Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they had also been called to a "serious road traffic collision" on the A614 between Ollerton and Perlethorpe. The emergency services have not yet disclosed the nature of the collision, or if anyone has been injured as a result.Traffic data showed significant travel disruption during the closure along the road close to Walesby Forest, near Newark.
