PORT DICKSON: Candidates and all their supporters are advised to take a break in campaigning if there are signs of a Covid-19 outbreak, says Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
The Health Minister said all parties involved in the election need to practise the standard operating procedures to avoid cross-infection, which could contribute to a rise in Covid-19 cases.
"There is no detailed SOP for Covid-19 during the state polls as the outbreak is receding and is no longer a global health emergency – but there are still cases even though they are very few. "The public should remain on alert if there are symptoms and put on a facemask and take healthcare measures," she said when met during the Ziarah Kasih programme in Kampung Pachitan here on Tuesday .
She said the Health Ministry and the Election Commission would announce the SOP soon for Covid-19 patients who will cast their votes on Aug 12. State polls for Kedah, Terengganu, Kelantan, Negri Sembilan, Selangor, and Penang as well as the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary by-election to be held simultaneously this Saturday. – Bernama
