Dr Afif was a two-term assemblyman for Seberang Jaya, where he won the seat under a PKR ticket.
According to sources close to the development, his position as Selangor Perikatan liaison secretary also meant that he was already doing work in the state, adding to his potential as a prospective candidate.The Star’s attempts to get Dr Afif’s comments on the matter have so far been unsuccessful.
Dr Afif contested the Shah Alam parliamentary seat in a four-cornered fight in the 15th General Election where he lost to Pakatan Harapan candidate Azli Yusof, who won with a majority of 18,095 votes.The former PKR deputy youth chief was among the PKR reps who quit the party to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia after the “Sheraton Move”.Perikatan will be contesting all 56 seats.
