State polls: Seat allocation talks almost complete, says Pakatan info chief

BUTTERWORTH: The division of seats for the coming six state elections is almost done, says Fahmi Fadzil.

The Pakatan Harapan information chief said he believed that it will be a united decision and will only add to the strength within the respective states and in the nation.

"I am aware that it is almost settled but the final decision will be made officially by the leadership and the respective states," said Fahmi, who is also Communications and Digital Minister, during a press conference after the pre-launch of the Madani Community in Seberang Prai, Penang, on Saturday .The six states involved have been in negotiations to divide the seats between the coalitions and parties within the unity government.

The Selangor state assembly is set to automatically dissolve on June 26 and elections must be held within 60 days by Aug 26. Although the dissolution dates of the five other state assemblies differ, Pakatan and its allies and the Perikatan Nasional have agreed to hold state polls simultaneously. The Kelantan state assembly will automatically dissolve on June 28, Terengganu on July 1, Negri Sembilan on July 2, Kedah on July 4 and Penang on Aug 2.
