Danielle Lindoff has spent her entire life in Southeast Alaska, with 25 of those years spent specifically in Juneau. Despite being very familiar with the region, she’s the first to say you just never know what to expect.

JUNEAU, Alaska - Danielle Lindoff has spent her entire life in Southeast Alaska, with 25 of those years spent within the city limits of Juneau.

Upon arrival, Lindoff said the carbon monoxide alarm was ringing and the house smelled like fuel due to residual fuel in the monitor despite the fuel line being turned off. After additional hours of waiting for it to be safe to regain entry, the Lindoff’s were finally able to start picking up the pieces.

But the Lindoffs are far from alone. With so many residents impacted by the damages, many — like the Lindoffs — are unaware of the resources the state is now offering. Jeremy Zidek, public information officer for the state’s division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, said the state also offers temporary housing programs for those unable to return to their homes: 18 months for homeowners and three months for renters.
