Prosecutors could seek death penalty for the suspect accused of killing Santaquin Sgt. Bill Hooser.

On Tuesday, more information is expected to be released about the criminal charges surrounding Sgt. Hooser 's death.

According to the arrest document, after killing Sgt. Hooser, Jayne tried to hit a Utah Highway Patrol trooper and woman on the scene. After the state files charges, Lazaro said Jayne can get an attorney. While she said a release is unlikely, she expected detention and preliminary hearings to follow."In this case, they would have 60 days after the preliminary hearing to do so. If they don't seek to go after the death penalty, what he's facing on that charge alone is 25 years of life in prison or life without the possibility of parole," Lazaro said.
