Massachusetts will allow the transportation of cannabis from the mainland to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.

After meeting in executive session for several hours Thursday, the Cannabis Control Commission approved an administrative order that allows marijuana and marijuana products to be transported over the state's territorial waters to licensed businesses and treatment centers on the islands.

The commission hadn't previously allowed cannabis transportation to the islands over fears of interfering with federal regulations.
