Evgenii Dadonov scored a goal and an assist, while Casey DeSmith made 33 saves for his second shutout of the season as the Dallas Stars defeated the St. Louis Blues 2-0 on Saturday. Esa Lindell added a power-play goal, and Miro Heiskanen extended his point streak to four games with an assist. The Stars won for the seventh time in their last nine road games. Dadonov opened the scoring at 7:07 of the first period, redirecting the puck past Jordan Binnington after the Blues goalie lost his stick.
Mathieu Joseph had a great chance to tie the game with just over eight minutes remaining, but his shot hit the left post. Two minutes later, Philip Broberg followed with a wrist shot that struck the right post for the Blues. The Stars have been on a surge over the past five weeks after a slow start to the season, winning seven of their last nine road games. Coach Jim Montgomery tried to spark his Blues team by putting speedy rookie Zack Bolduc on a line with All-Star center Robert Thomas. Both Bolduc and Thomas had three shots on goal. The Blues called a timeout immediately after Dadonov's goal and were given a chance to regroup. Jake Neighbours was stopped on a rebound attempt shortly after, and then took a roughing penalty just 32 seconds after Dadonov's goal. Lindell capitalized on the ensuing power play to extend the Stars' lead. Dallas, who defeated the Golden Knights 4-3 on Friday night, will face them again in a rematch on Tuesday in Vegas. The Blues will host the Vancouver Canucks on Monday night
