Stark County Sheriff Inspector faces OVI charges
Jackson Township, Ohio - A local Sheriff inspector is in hot water. Police say he hopped behind the wheel while drunk. He now faces criminal charges.
Jackson Township Police body camera footage shows officers struggling with a man who appears to be intoxicated.He is now facing OVI charges. Officials with the Sheriff’s Office told 19 News Jones has been an employee since 2016 and IS currently on administrative leave.According to witnesses, he was behind the wheel of a Jeep Wrangler Wednesday night around 7:45 pm. That’s when he crashed into another car at the intersection of Dressler Rd NW and Belden Village St NW in Canton.
A woman who claims to be with Jones told police she was the owner of the car but was a passenger during the crash.“When officers asked William what had happened, he stated that he does not answer questions.”“Call George! I know George I was at his campaign reelection” screamed Jones on body camera footage.
After he was detained officers took Jones to a Jackson Township Safety Center, where he refused to cooperate and give a breath sample according to police.
