Now, Star Wars is honoring The Phantom Menace's legacy by creating a new prequel. The franchise has announced several upcoming Star Wars TV shows, and The Acolyte is arguably the most exciting. Star Wars' upcoming 2024 TV show The Acolyte will be unlike any TV show or movie the franchise has made to date. It will be the second show set during the High Republic Era, following Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures. The Acolyte will show for the first time how the Sith infiltrated the Jedi. This is an exciting prospect. Up until now, this has been unexplored, even though it is a pivotal point in Jedi history. At the time of Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, the Jedi Order had become complacent. They still believed that the Sith were extinct despite a Sith Lord running the Republic right under their noses. The Acolyte will go back 100 years to finally reveal how this happened. Will The Acolyte Clear The Way For More Prequels? The Acolyte will likely clear the way for more prequels. After all, it is opening up a whole new part of the timeline. George Lucas said that Star Wars is the tragedy of Darth Vader, and while it is 100 years before The Phantom Menace, The Acolyte is essential to the Skywalker saga. After all, without Sheev Palpatine taking over the Republic and manipulating the Jedi Order, the Clone Wars wouldn't have happened, and Darth Vader wouldn't exist.
