Star Wars turns one OT villain into a Thrawn-level threat.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Warning! This article contains spoilers for Star Wars: Darth Vader #38 Grand Admiral Thrawn has perhaps the greatest tactical mind in Star Wars history, though that shouldn’t suggest that he’s the only Admiral within Imperial ranks who commands with such ruthless precision during times of conflict.

With Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine acting as the clear villains of the original trilogy , many fans fail to recognize the true threat of the Imperial High Command. While Grand Moff Tarkin is an obvious standout, as he was the true ‘big-bad’ of Episode IV, other Commanders, Captains, and Admirals fell by the wayside in the eyes of fans, including Admiral Piett.

Admiral Piett Proves He’s A Thrawn-Level Villain With One Move In Star Wars: Darth Vader #38 by Greg Pak and Raffaele Ienco, the Executor is overrun with Scourge-infected droids, and like a horde of zombies, they’re all trying to kill anyone they see aboard the ship. In the previous issue, Darth Vader comes to the rescue of his crew.

This situation was multi-layered, with ulterior motives behind the scheduled destruction of the Executor beyond simply eliminating a potential droid threat. Mas Amedda - the personal advisor and aid to Emperor Palpatine - wanted Darth Vader dead for political and personal reasons, and Admiral Piett knew that.

Admiral Piett exhibited incredible insight behind the true nature of the situation, lightning-fast problem-solving skills, and the will to do what many other Admirals - including Corleque himself - wouldn’t be ruthless enough to do. Plus, Corleque’s ship actually was compromised by the Scourge, so it also made tactical sense to destroy it with the added benefit of keeping his own ship safe in the process.
