Mariner, Tendi, T'Lyn, Rutherford and Boimler In Star Trek: Lower Decks
Summary Two of Star Trek: Lower Decks’ most dangerous, but memeable, characters are set to collide in a new variant cover. For five seasons, Lower Decks has presented a humorous, light-hearted take on the Star Trek franchise. Along the way, the crew of the Cerritos have encountered some horrifying threats that have also become fan favorites, and now they come together in Chris Fenoglio’s variant cover to Star Trek: Lower Decks #1.
For the first issue, artist Chris Fenoglio, who also drew the Lower Decks miniseries from 2022, contributes an ominous variant cover, showing the evil Badgey cradling a bone-eating Moopsy–with a sinister grin on his face, leaving fans wondering what chaos he has planned. Badgey, introduced in the first season episode “Terminal Provocations,” is a parody of the “Clippy” assistant found in Microsoft Office products. Resembling an anthropomorphic Starfleet badge, Badgey, as his creator Rutherford called him, quickly developed a sadistic streak, and tried several times to kill him and the Cerritos’ crew. The Moopsy, introduced during Lower Decks’ fourth season, is one of the most vicious creatures in the galaxy, despite its cute appearance.
