\nStar Trek: Lower Decks episode 'Mining the Mind's Mines' is beyond an exercise in alliteration. It focuses on a remote science outpost where stone orbs are bringing fantasies to life. Meanwhile, Tendi experiences her first day as a Senior Science Officer Trainee. Her biggest challenge? Trying to get a senior officer to actually listen to her.
While the 'kids' are off trying to fend off their monsters, the 'adults' are dealing with the issue of playing 'Hot Potato' with a stone in a diplomatic issue. It's a scene that slams into its logical conclusion because they had to find a way to fill out the air time for this absurdity, and it's on brand for this type of comedy.
