The VFX supervisor for StarTrekDiscovery shares new behind the scenes photos that confirm production has wrapped on season 5 of the show.
New set photos from Star Trek: Discovery season 5 confirm that filming has wrapped, just over a year after season 4 began airing. The sci-fi series debuted in 2017, 8 years after the fan-favorite Star Trek reboot movie from J.J. Abrams premiered and revitalized the franchise.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The series' VFX supervisor, Fausto Tejeda, took to social media to share three behind-the-scenes photos along with confirmation of the end of filming for Star Trek: Discovery season 5. He notes the innovative journey the show went through during filming for the new season. Star Trek: Discovery showrunner Michelle Paradise also chimed in to celebrate the wrap on season 5. According to Paradise, the new season will be the most ambitious one the show's ever had.
Star Trek: Discovery season 5 will take the show in a new direction. Instead of continuing the streak of stopping galaxy-ending events, Captain Michael Burnham and the crew of the USS Discovery will be on the lookout for the greatest treasure in the known galaxy. This new objective should provide the show with a much-needed breath of fresh air.
After stopping the DMA threat at the end of season 4, the Star Trek: Discovery crew has a clear path to this new tonal shift of the show. There might even be romance in Star Trek: Discovery season 5. Having built a reputation as the most serious and gritty entry of the new Star Trek shows, the series now can focus on world-building, with different and exciting new worlds popping up during the crew's search for this new treasure throughout the universe.
