A deal done to release Matildas stars Ellie Carpenter and Emily van Egmond back to their clubs means they will miss the Olympic qualifier against Chinese Taipei in Perth on Wednesday night.
The absence of the star duo and a hamstring injury to winger Cortnee Vine will demand at least three changes for coach Tony Gustavsson who was weighing up how many minutes to play his best players in the third clash in a week.
Football Australia confirmed deals had already been done for the pair to return to their clubs before the third and final game. Van Egmond and Vine both played the full game against Iran and came off the bench against the Philippines.
