Naomi Pomeroy was a renowned chef in the Portland, Oregon, area.
CORVALLIS, Oregon — Naomi Pomeroy, renowned chef in the Portland area who also appeared on the TV show “Top Chef Masters,” has died after an apparent accident while tubing on a river, authorities say.
The sheriff’s office says Pomeroy was one of three people on tubes and a paddleboard that were secured together. The tubes and paddleboard reportedly were caught on an exposed snag in the water. Pomeroy was pulled under the water by a leash on the paddleboard and was unable to resurface, authorities say.
They continued their search with sonar, underwater cameras and drones but there were no reports Tuesday that her body had been recovered. The sheriff’s office says heavy debris in the river is hampering efforts.
