Homelander (Anthony Starr) sitting on his chair and looking angry in The Boys
With numerous characters from The Boys appearing in Gen V season 1, it is no surprise that more will be involved in the second installment, but the newest confirmed cameo could have massive ramifications for the main show's final season.
After The Boys season 4's ending left most of the central heroes in captivity, Gen V's return always looked crucial. The spinoff already had a major task ahead when it came to explaining how Marie, Emma, and Jordan escaped Vought custody, but now it also has to help set up The Boys season 5. Additionally, Cate and Sam joining Homelander's supe army during season 1's finale before appearing in The Boys season 4 only helped highlight how connected the two projects are. Therefore, whatever happens when these supes return to Godolkin is bound to be huge, especially with Marie seemingly working with Starlight. However, while Gen V's main protagonist looked destined to help The Boys in the final season's upcoming war, a confirmed villain cameo could change everything and create a whole new dynamic ahead of this major conflict. Giancarlo Esposito’s Confirmed Gen V Cameo Takes The Boys Season 5 In A New Direction While Gen V season 2's official trailers showed the likes of Starlight, The Deep, and Black Noir all playing parts in the upcoming story, a recent teaser revealed that Giancarlo Esposito will also be involved as he reprises his role as Stan Edgar. The former Vought CEO has been an overarching antagonist for some time, despite his true goals being unclear. Like Victoria Neuman, Stan is willing to use underhanded tactics to strengthen his position, while also showing flawed morality. That said, he is one of the few people to stand up to Homelander and has absolutely no love for the show's main villain, suggesting he will be strictly against Homelander's current position of power in America. However, given that The Boys attempted to send him back to prison after initially getting him out in season 4, he will have no loyalty to them either, making his presence in Gen V all the more interesting. The teaser showed him confronting Marie, who asked him,"What do you want?" to which he simply replied,"You." Considering The Boys season 5 will presumably revolve around the war between Homelander's supe army vs. The Boys' resistance, Edgar's plan could shake things up drastically. Rather than there simply being two opposing groups, the ex-Vought CEO may be forming his own band of supes that could rival his former company and add a new dynamic to the final season. Assuming he can successfully recruit Marie and Gen V's other talented heroes, The Boys' big war could officially have a third surprise element in the form of Edgar's team of vigilantes, hinting at an even more unpredictable plot than we first anticipated. Stan Edgar’s Connection To Victoria Neuman Will Undoubtedly Influence Marie Ahead Of The Boys’ Final Season Despite Marie being set to form an alliance with Starlight in Gen V season 2, Stan Edgar may be able to use his connection with Victoria Neuman to win the young supe over himself. With Victoria being his adopted daughter, Stan will be eager to find out how the Congresswoman died, and his influence should allow him to find out the truth. Therefore, his dislike towards The Boys will only grow stronger, even though it was Butcher alone who killed Neuman in The Boys season 4, not the entire group. This would give Edgar more than enough reason to try and recruit Marie himself, with the businessman likely to try and paint Starlight and her allies in a bad light. Interestingly, Neuman sharing the same powers as Marie and revealing her secret to the Godolkin student had a lasting impact on Gen V's protagonist. As a result, Edgar proving to Marie that Victoria was related to him and that Butcher caused her death could turn the powerful supe away from The Boys, prompting her to join Stan instead. The former CEO's manipulative nature and moral ambiguity also make influencing such an impressionable mind highly possible, with Marie's trauma potentially impacting her judgment, and if he successfully pulled this off, Edgar's team of supes could wind up being season 5's strongest faction. The Boys Season 5’s Upcoming War May Not Be As Simple As It Looks On paper, it looked as though The Boys season 5 would feature the central group and their allies taking on Homelander and his evil faction, with Gen V's supes slotting in to either side. However, it seems like things won't be quite this simple, particularly if Stan Edgar really is putting together his own team. His involvement would make this a three-way battle, as Edgar has no love for Homelander or The Boys, while the feeling is mutual towards the man who once ran Vought. The group of young heroes will likely have their own moral outlook on the war and won't obey Edgar's every command either, creating even more chaos. Esposito's character's primary objective may even be stopping Butcher rather than Homelander, but this would presumably still drag his fighters into the bloodshed. Butcher has killed several supes throughout The Boys and is a wildcard in season 5, since he will likely act on his own, making him hard to take down. This means Gen V's superpowered characters are bound to get involved in the conflict one way or another, creating endless possibilities. With so many variables and unpredictable factors, there is no telling how The Boys season 5's big battle will end, proving just how much Edgar's role in the spinoff could impact the main show's long-awaited conclusion. Gen V is set at America's only college for superheroes, where students challenge their moral limits while competing to join Vought International's elite team, The Seven. As dark secrets of the institution are revealed, they must determine the kind of heroes they aspire to be.
