Eight special stamps of TV comedy series Porridge will be issued to celebrate the show's 50th anniversary. They feature memorable quotes and scenes from the sitcom and faces of the well-known cast, including Richard Beckinsale as Lennie Godber, Ronnie Barker as Norman Stanley Fletcher, and Fulton Mackay as Mr Mackay.
' The show follows jailbirds Norman and Lennie as they come face to face with the reality of imprisonment while surrounded by petty criminals and prison officers including Mr Mackay and Mr Barrowclough, played by Brian Wilde. The show, written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais, ran for three series between 1974 and 1977 and also had a big-screen adaptation and a sequel series, Going Straight.
