Inflation is putting its imprint on stamp prices.
The U.S. Postal Service announced Friday it was seeking to raise the price of a first-class Forever stamp from 60 to 63 cents to “offset the rise in inflation.”
A notice of the proposed increase was filed last week with the Postal Regulatory Commission. If approved, the price change will take effect Jan. 22, 2023. The price for 1-ounce metered mail will increase from 57 cents to 60 cents; postcard prices will rise 4 cents to 48 cents. “As operating expenses continue to rise, these price adjustments provide the Postal Service with much needed revenue to achieve the financial stability sought by its
