USC can take a giant step closer to reaching the College Football Playoff with a victory.
LOS ANGELES — There’s enough on the line whenever the USC and Notre Dame football teams meet. Bragging rights, the Jeweled Shillelagh, et cetera. But there’s a little extra juice for 2022 when the teams meet at the Coliseum on Saturday.
This USC team has never had to play under such circumstances. Recent years have been about trying to scrape through to a bowl game at this time of the season, the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign as the lone exception. “I think you need to embrace it, one. Enjoy being in this moment, enjoy competing at this level,” Riley said. “And our team gets excited to play teams like this. There’s no question about it. It’s fun playing really good competition at cool venues with a lot of things on the line.”
