The Bachelorette Party is a high-energy, fast-paced, slapstick comedy that feels like a cross between The Gilmore Girls and The Hangover.
Like the theatre? You’ve come to the right place! WSFA 12 News is raising the curtain on all the wonderful productions being performed in the River Region’s thriving community theatre scene. Welcome to Stage 12 .focuses on four women, and their respective male counterparts, on what is supposed to be the first night of a weekend-long bachelorette party in a country cabin. The party is being thrown for Meg, a middle-aged lawyer from the city marrying a country sheriff, Tom Lane.
Bradley Podliska as Sheriff Tom Lane, and Janet Robinson as Meg as the two arrive at the cabin.Along with her friends, Dot and Carol, and her young adult daughter Ellie, the four ladies start their weekend with wine, silly outfits, and a night at the town bar. Unbeknownst to each other, Meg, Carol, and and Ellie have all made plans to ditch their friends and return to the cabin early for secret rendezvous with their men.
When Meg finds out their venue has flooded and won’t be able to host her wedding in two weeks, she and her fiancé, Tom, plan to secretly elope at the cabin that night. Ellie and her boyfriend Bubba, fresh from a fight over a social media picture of Bubba with his ex, agree to meet back in the night to work out the issue. Carol and her husband, Rick, agree to meet up too, just looking to get a little frisky.
“This show, particularly the type of comedy it is- a farce- is so much fun to do,” said Leanna Wallace, who plays Carol, “It’s very fast-paced, it’s all over the place.
