A distraught pet owner expresses her relief after her rescue staffy is returned to Sydney, having been spotted in Queensland through the help of a Facebook lost pet group.
Earlier this month, Roo went missing from a Sydney backyard. A week later, she showed up in rural south-east Queensland.A pet dog that disappeared in Sydney earlier this month was found a week later roughly 1,000 kilometres away in south-east Queensland.
So when the household returned from work and realised Roo was not home, Ms Newman was sent into a complete "panic". Ms Newman said Roo had "never shown any interest" in running away, and while it is possible she got out the back gate, it was "unlikely". James Porter was working on his father's farm, roughly 1,000 kilometres away from Summer Hill, when Roo suddenly appeared.Mr Porter and his father gave Roo water, before sharing the story with a neighbour, who then posted a photo of the missing dog on a community Facebook page.
"She's a tough little dog, we got her as a stray, so she's been through difficult times and living on the streets before," Ms Newman said. The Humane Society International estimated in 2019 that there were at least 150 illegal dog fighting rings in Australia.
