New Bay Area offerings include Irish cream candies, vegan shepherd’s pie, potato pizza
It doesn’t have to be the same old, same old this St. Patrick’s Day. Check out these creative offerings:You would think corned beef and cabbage on a stick would be a messy proposition. Not at Dog Haus, that purveyor of gourmet sausages. That company’s, Adam Gertler, has created an untraditional version of the traditional St. Patrick’s Day meal — an all-beef, hormone-free sausage blended with cabbage, garlic and corned beef spices.
Kristen and Dean Scott, the San Jose bakers of all things Celtic, are making something new this year: vegan shepherd’s pie. The topping is made with red potatoes and dairy-free ingredients, and the filling combines green lentils, carrots, crimini mushrooms, shallots, fresh rosemary, thyme and other herbs and spices. Other seasonal specials available for pickup are Irish whiskey fudge and Irish soda bread in three flavors .Open noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday for pickups at 4432 Pearl Ave.
