The St. Johns County Public Library System (SJCPLS) is excited to announce its “Adventure Begins at Your Library” 2024 Summer Reading Program that will run from June 2 through July 27.

– The St. Johns County Public Library System is launching its “Adventure Begins at Your Library” 2024 Summer Reading Program that will run from June 2 through July 27. Designed to promote educational and family-friendly summer fun, SJCPLS is inviting the community to visit the library and participate in this year’s reading event. Participants may pick up their free reading logs from any library branch to earn prizes for every five days tracked.

Additionally, over 100 events are planned throughout an eight-week “adventure,” along with regularly scheduled story time, book club, and STEM programs. People are encouraged to stop by any of the six SJCPLS branches and enjoy various programs that offer:Camping-themed family fun, including games, scavenger hunts, story time, and more.

Nature Detective workshops hosted by the Garden Club of St. Augustine explore the world of monarch butterflies. To learn about all of the Summer Reading programming, visit “Librarians understand that children who don’t read and learn during their summer break fall behind. It’s called the ‘summer slide,’” SJCPLS Director Debra Rhodes Gibson said. “Our Summer Reading Program offers incentives to keep reading skills sharp ahead of the new school year.
