Injuries that set back St. Ignatius started in a scrimmage vs. Canton McKinley, which now faces the Wildcats in the Division I regional quarterfinals.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — It’s possible the trajectory of St. Ignatius’ season changed significantly in August when it met Canton McKinley in a scrimmage.
That’s when junior standout Cody Haddad suffered an arm injury that kept it in a cast and him sidelined until Week 9 of the season. The Wildcats lost eight of their first seven games and barely made the Division I, Region 1 playoffs with one win. They got that win again last week at Mentor, but this time with Haddad in uniform to boost them to the regional quarterfinals at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium and against Canton McKinley , where Haddad’s season was nearly lost for its entirety.
