Officials said a fire that broke out in St. George and damaged a home was "definitely human caused," though exact details as to who caused it have not been found yet. Calls of a fire came to dispatchers around 8 p.m. Wednesday night at Brooks Nature Park. Callers reported seeing minors leave the area after the fire started. Chief Robert Stoker with St. George Fire said the roughly acre and a half fire was "definitely human caused. There are no other ignition sources that could find there."It was not made clear where the fire started, but officials said a strong wind pushed the fire into heavy vegetation, eventually exposing homes to it. The homes were not threatened, Stoker said, but residents were evacuated to be safe. One house received damage that Stoker said was mostly exterior.They said it took about 45 minutes to get the fire contained. Stoker said there have been "several fires" in the Brooks Nature Park area in the past, and advised people in the area to be fire-wise, especially with vehicle fires that could spread to brush.He added that with the winds in the area, there is potential to have significant wildfires this early in the year.
