A grim truth about coaching college basketball in 2023, especially in the lower echelons of Division I, is this: every year, every spring, you must re-recruit players you’ve already successfully recruited, sometimes as often as each of the previous four years.

“It really doesn’t matter if you like it or not,” Braica said Tuesday night. “It’s the way it is and so you have to do your job accordingly.” In the NEC quarterfinals, the Terriers were down only 77-73 with just under two minutes to play against Fairleigh Dickinson; you might have heard, Fairleigh survived that test and went on to enjoy quite a three-week basketball romp.
