Well, they have now.
But in none of those cases did the manager – or any player – publicly call for the game to be replayed. You get annoyed, you have a moan on the television or radio, you seethe for a while, you occasionally get snarky with PGMOL and then you get on with it and hope that, by some twist of karmic fate, you get the next one. Some people keep spreadsheets about refereeing decisions – fair enough, we all have our kinks. But, generally, that’s how things have worked.
This may have been a weird version, the type of which we haven’t seen, but it was still just a human error. Even Klopp was at pains to say that before subsequently forgetting 20 seconds later.
