Spurs point guard Tre Jones on Tuesday was named one of six finalists for the 2023-24 NBA Sportsmanship Award
. The league created the honor ahead of the 1995-96 season to “recognize the player who best represents the ideals of sportsmanship on the court.” Jones was selected as the finalist from the Southwest Division along with Philadelphia’s Tyrese Maxey , Cleveland's Jarrett Allen , Miami's Kevin Love , Oklahoma City's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Sacramento's Harrison Barnes . Current NBA players will select the winner from that group.
For Spurs' Tre Jones, 200 games an accomplishment 'Tre is a winner,' Popovich said in October. 'He doesn't care how many minutes he plays. He doesn't care what the situation is. He's going to do things that help the team win and everybody respects him for that to a great extent. He comes in and he makes the energy get even higher. He's been fantastic.
