Looking to grow the franchise’s marketing footprint outside of its traditional San Antonio boundaries, the Spurs petitioned Bexar County last May to host games in the state capital. “We’re a bottom-third market ,” Spurs chief executive officer R.C. Buford said when the games were announced. “By better positioning ourselves in this region, we have a chance to become a potentially powerful top-third market.”The Spurs play the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday at 3 p.m.
