As red-hot Luka Doncic and the Mavericks arrive for a New Year’s Eve clash, the Spurs...
Mavericks guard Luka Doncic has been on a tear lately, and Spurs coach Gregg Popovich joked that the Spurs hope to hold him under 50 points.Jimmy Johnson famously predicted a Dallas Cowboys victory over San Francisco in the 1994 NFC Championship game.Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, meanwhile, has a vow of his own when it comes to his team’s game plan against Dallas’ red-hot Luka Doncic on Saturday night at the AT&T Center.Popovich’s promise came off like a self-deprecating joke.

In addition to the 60-piece he dumped on the Knicks, Doncic has also registered a 50-point game this month, in a Dec. 30 victory at Houston.
NBA teams are playing at a faster pace, creating more possessions and launching more 3-pointers than ever before.
