Spurs boss Conte wants ‘one or two marquee signings’ as respected journalist reveals the Italian’s ‘fear’journalist Ben Jacobs insists “the next few weeks” will decide whether Spurs are sticking with Antonio Conte or “looking for a new manager”.
Results have been mixed this term but Tottenham once again sit inside the Premier League’s top four after they leapfrogged Newcastle into fourthBut Conte’s future remains up in the air with his contract up at the end of June with speculation that Mauricio Pochettino – who is still out of work after leaving Paris Saint-Germain –And Jacobs reckons there a number of demands Conte will want fulfilled before he commits to take Tottenham into next season.
Jacobs added: “I think that from Daniel Levy’s perspective, he is looking at the market to see who’s out there. That’s just part of normal due diligence and planning when your manager’s contract is dwindling down. “And from Pochettino’s point of view, I don’t think that he’s fixed only on one job. We know that he was intrigued and would have put his name in the hat for the England job if Gareth Southgate hadn’t extended. And it’s also true that both Daniel Levy and Pochettino would be open to a Spurs move again.
Jacobs continued: “There will be other names should a vacancy arise. And I do think whether it is this summer, or whether it’s in the future, De Zerbi he is going to be in demand because he’s managed to come straight in and build on everything that Graham Potter created at Brighton.
