Rochester, N.Y. — A Livingston County man was arrested after he escaped Strong Memorial Hospital on Saturday night.
Livingston County deputies responded to Strong Hospital around 6:00 p.m. Saturday, after it was found he left the hospital. He was later found at a residence in Rochester on Sunday morning, where he is being held without bail.
Rochester, N.Y. — A Livingston County man was arrested after he left Strong Memorial Hospital on Saturday night, prompting a large multi-agency police search. On March 30, Livingston County deputies responded to the Town of Springwater for a report of a possible sexual crime that had been committed. Deputies arrested Patrick J. Steinmetz, 38, Springwater, after they alleged that he sexually abused a child under the age of 17. He was charged with mulitple sex crimes against a child. He was remanded into the custody of the Sheriff without bail due to him having two or more previous felony convictions.
On April 5, Steinmetz suffered a medical issue, which caused him to be transported to Strong Hospital. Deputies maintained around-the-clock surveillance of Steinmetz. Around 6:00 p.m. Saturday, deputies were alerted that Steinmetz had left Strong Memorial Hospital. He was remanded back into the custody of Livingston County Sheriff's Office., along with RPD, Avon police, and Monroe County Sheriff deputies. Officers searched the hospital and Mount Hope Cemetery but were unable to find him. They later caught up with him at a residence in Rochester during the early hours of Sunday morning, taking him into custody where he is being held without bail.
