As the Springboks look to the future, some senior players have fallen by the wayside. Will we see Trevor Nyakane in the green and gold again?
There is no doubt that Trevor Nyakane has been one of the Springboks’ most popular and influential props of all time. The big man has featured in 68 Tests, while forming part of the successful World Cup squads in 2019 and 2023, as well as the series triumph over the British & Irish Lions in 2021.
There was a feeling that Nyakane could perhaps come back into the Springbok mix for the final two Rugby Championship Tests against Argentina, but Thomas du Toit and Vincent Koch will instead cover tighthead prop as Frans Malherbe receives a rest. On Tuesday, Rassie Erasmus revealed the latest Springbok squad, with the 28-man group set to assemble in Stellenbosch on Wednesday afternoon to begin their preparations before departing for Argentina on Saturday.Props: Thomas du Toit , Vincent Koch , Ox Nche , Gerhard Steenekamp .Locks: Eben Etzebeth , Nicolaas Janse van Rensburg , Salmaan Moerat , Ruan Nortje .
